Perhaps confusing the law and right and wrong is the issue here.
The above incident aside, I do not see why not. I’d like to see the link that shows a law declaring a a public room as utterly public despite being rented by a private party.
if I rented a public room (school or library) after hours for a invitation only “public” (not just jewelers)jewelry event it would be private and trespassers would certainly be barred as security risks. Without any legal worries at all.
