Yep, oh and it’s always “Reagan was the only real conservative GOP president of the last fifty years” and I of course point out the debts, the hyping of the Drug War, and amnesty. The response is always to blame Tip O’Neil when that happens though. Amuses me, all the bad products of the Reagan years are Tip and Congressional liberals’ fault but all the good products were all Ronnie and Tip and the Dem leadership had zlitch to do with that. And besides the idea that there was ever a purely conservative president is prosperous. I remember fellow liberals acting like in the Bush years that FDR was some perfect liberal but his record while IMO overall solid wasn’t without flaws. Failure to support an anti lynching law, internment of the Japanese, and the court packing plan among them. And this coming from a guy whose mother’s family no doubt became Democrats because of that man but I digress.
