As we understand physics now, anything approaching the speed of light (much less exceeding it) is impossible with our technology. That doesn’t mean there isn’t something which could be discovered in the future. (I ain’t holding my breath though.)

Objects near the edge of the universe are accelerating away from us at significant fractions of the speed of light, relative to us. That would seem to indicate to me (who has no college education, so sue me) that relative to each other, they are flying apart at a speed greater than light.
