What is the Novel Coronavirus? Is this a mutation? It says that the new, “novel” CV causes the COVID-19, so I am confused.

Anyone help a dumbass (me) out here?

As per Wiki:

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), formerly known as 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease, is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a virus closely related to the SARS virus

That’s the proper nomenclature for this particular outbreak. Me, I’m a bit old school, so I just informally refer to it as “Wuhan Coronavirus”, being as Wuhan is were it originated and it’s a coronavirus disease.
