The problem is $2k/month is not enough to replace most full time jobs. Yes, it’s more than minimum wage at 40 hours/wk. But minimum wage is a joke these days.
Mnuchin projected 20% unemployment. That’s a lot of lost jobs and not all of them are minimum wage. The median household income in the US is about $62k. Losing such incomes will cause a massive default in mortgages and smaller loans (e.g., car loans).
$2k/month is not enough to keep the economy from the biggest deconstruction since the Great Depression.
