During the campaign, Romney stood for one thing only. That one thing had nothing to do with economics. It had nothing to do with foreign policy. It had nothing to do with any social issue.

The one thing was that Romney could beat Obama.

That’s all the Republicans wanted in the first place. Now that the dream of beating Obama is gone, Romney and the GOP are of no particular interest to each other.

No one ever had a clue how Romney and his “Ayn Rand Catholic” Gilligan sidekick would have governed, no one cared before the election, and no one cares now. Romney himself may not have thought about it very much.
