The usual. Yes, Jefferson Davis was a Democrat. Essentially all of the Confederacy was once dominated by Democrats. Eventually they morphed into Dixiecrats and then left the party either becoming Republicans, independents, retiring, or kicking the bucket.

These same people are always bringing up WELFARE when they think about “blah people.” In fact that was a theme in the 2012 presidential campaign. Welfare, the dog whistle of bigots. It evolved from Lee Atwater’s “ni-CLANG, ni-CLANG, ni-CLANG” to States’ Rights, to WELFARE. Obamaphone!…

Next week they’ll be extolling the virtues of Jefferson Davis and talk of secession while reading a Ron Paul newsletter and waving their Confederate flag.
