Wow.

It’s hard for me to express this because it may come out all wrong, but I do consider her a survivor, but a different kind of survivor. Being torn from your family at a young age to schools or relatives in another country is pretty traumatic. And then finding out your parents and siblings were all murdered adds another painful dimension. This was my grandparents experience too and my grandmother never became a “whole person” because of it. She was a bitter woman. I do consider her a survivor.

Of course saying you’re a Holocaust survivor publicly, particularly at her age, conjures up one kind of thing and if that wasn’t her direct experience, she should clarify.

To be anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian after what she went through is a shocker.
