Completely shifting gears; I was browsing through new iPhone apps this morning, and was amused (but a little depressed) to see in the “travel” category the apparent popularity of “tip calculators”. Complete with rave reviews of how “easy” they are. Uh… kids? Your iPhone already comes with a calculator built in. A “tip” calculator doesn’t do anything different.

I especially loved one that advertised how it featured “support for dollars, euros, pounds sterling. [etc.]”. Because, you see, 20% of a hundred dollars is different number than 20% of a hundred euros.

Good grief.
