re: #764 Dianna

I’m not ignoring evidence that doesn’t support my point, I simply don’t believe it is relevant. I believe Obama attended Trinity Church out of political expediency, just as he left Trinity Church out of political expediency. That being said, ascribing the sometimes racist rhetoric that flowed out of Trinity Church to Obama himself is ludicrous. Sitting in a pew and listening to someone speak does not mean that you agree with what they are saying.

Posting pages and pages of information about black liberation theology doesn’t mean that Obama believes any of it. Forging that link between what is said at a sermon and what Obama himself believes takes more evidence than the fact that he was a member of the church. I believe that evidence is how Obama has conducted himself thus far as an elected official and as President. And I don’t see anything he has done as evidence to support the contentions that he is a racist.

For what it’s worth, I agree with Obama 100% on the Gates arrest case. Even as a white male I’ve been harrassed and seen several friends arrested by the NYPD for the crime of not humbling themselves sufficiently before the long dick of the law. If I had to deal with some jerk-off cop hassling me for entering my own house I’d be pretty mad. Arresting someone in their own lawn for “disorderly conduct” is stupid.
