My gggggggggggparents (Scotch-Irish) were indentured servants. They weren’t exactly “free.” But they did get there eventually, without a war.
Cousin! But yeah I mean I won’t say Irish-Americans had it easy but we had it a hell of lot easier than African-Americans did. I mean it just bothers me that some Irish-Americans want to make the legitimate truth that our ancestors often had tougher lives than their WASP counterparts into “Hey you shouldn’t complain about the Confederate Flag and racism, black people.” It’s insulting. My ancestors came here on their own free will. They were not enslaved. They did not see their family forcefully separated, they had the freedom of mobility, etc.
