It occurs to me that this special election was probably on Trump’s mind when he announced the steel tariffs. Sure, it sounds crazy, to throw the whole world trade apparatus under the buss for a single congressional seat that won’t even exist in November*, but Trump would do something that batshit crazy to avoid the embarrassment of losing another special election in a heavily GOP district.
