I was in high school, and it came over the loudspeaker, saying he was shot, and we were all just in shock. Then later came the word that he was dead. I don’t even remember if we went home then or not; just pure shock. That wasn’t supposed to happen in the USA!

But actually, RFK bothered me the most. I was old enough to really follow politics and government by then, and he spoke to me. Then, instead of looking forward, we got Nixon. It’s like we were looking forward with Obama, and then BAM!
