In the last Democratic debate, what was most transparent were those candidates who were working the old-unions angel, with statements about union members wanting to keep their health insurance (in opposition to a national single payer system.)

Understandably, as it seems that Trump won the electoral college because the old Democratic machine in union heavy states like MI and PA just didn’t work like the old days.

The Democratic party can’t be a national party just based on us tree-huggers out here in California.

What I saw at the last debate was the growing reality that the Dems just don’t have the political will to do more than tinker at the edges of the system. That there is just not the will to get out there and educate the voters on why continuing to hold onto the idea of individual insurance as the primary means of attaining healthcare is the reason why healthcare is so expensive in this country. Warren was about the only person on that stage who came close to the reality that businesses in this country have discovered that workers will accept low pay, piss-poor treatment, and loss of all their bargaining ability if you offer health insurance. And will even vote for pay cuts or worse treatment if it means that they can keep that insurance plan.
