In retrospect, it’s obvious that all those who insisted that a Trump presidency was not something to worry about thought that it would be just another Dubya presidency. That Pence would exert some measure of control over Trump’s hiring decisions and stock the place with the same sort of political yes-men that Dubya had surrounded himself with. That Trump would defer to Pence whenever it came down to making decisions with political consequences as Dubya had done with Cheney, with Congressional Repubs working closely with Pence to be on the same page.

Because never before in world history has a man been put into power by a bunch of rubes who thought they could control him, only to discover that his newfound power means he doesn’t have to listen to them.//////
