Also weโre significantly higher in elevation. My town is 3,600 feet above sea level. The highest point in Nebraska is in Kimball County in the Panhandle, Panorama Point (Wikipedia).
Panorama Point is 5,429 feet (higher than Denver, Colorado).
The point is not actually a mountain, itโs just a low rise on the High Plains. (There is a photograph in the article.)
That is actually enough to explain it right there. I live in one of the higher places in lower Minnesota, outside of the Iron Range, and the altitude here is a breathtaking 961 feet above sea level.
