Really, the big issue for the Repubs in the next 12 months is that first two months will be spent dealing with a tantruming baby in the White House. Unless Donny should decide that he’s fed up with the whole thing and resigning on the promise of a pardon from Mike, then either they have to deal with “scorched earth” Trump or “screw this, I’m on vacation” Trump. In an ideal world, they’d cut their losses, excommunicate his bloated ass from the party, and take their chances in the midterms. But in this world, they’re going to have to at least try to look like they give a shit that 11+ million people are jobless, millions weeks or less away from bankruptcy/foreclosure/eviction in the middle of the holiday season, and a pandemic continuing to rage out of control despite their best efforts to downplay it.
