re: #42 HappyWarrior

I guess I am shocked by this since I live in a relatively secular area and had a secular upbringing. Though I do remember knowing people whose parents would take them to abortion clinics to harass the women and abortion workers. I’ve since become anti abortion both politically and morally but I draw a line there.

Protesting abortion clinics is the “softer” side of this problem. 30 years ago I have sat in “meeting” of Covenant groups, who talked about an “Army of God” and talked about how western whites are the inheritors of the promises made to the Jews.

In this country, there has been a scattering of groups who felt that they were responsible to bring about all the “promises” in scripture. This has been going on for 200 years.

Joseph Smith was into these “theories.” His movement didn’t turn into a militant group, but he certainly felt that he was handed a revelation from g-d that he and his followers (read “whites”) had inherited from g-d what the Jews had lost.

He was setting up a new Salem.

The militant “Army of God” folks follow a similar concept, that whites are the inheritors of the promises to the Jews.

And some of them want to make sure they get what they believe they have coming.
