I think a lot of people jumped off the bandwagon after it became obvious she wasn’t prepared to be president.

I’m not sure if I agree with Charles’ 2:1 ratio of people scared off to those attracted by her, but I do know a few generally apathetic people who don’t pay attention to politics as much as we do who voted for Obama specifically because Palin scared them off. I don’t know how well this anecdotal evidence translates to actual statistics from election day.

I was a bigger fan of Palin before McCain picked her than after. The smears did not bother me. I knew they were BS. What bothered me is she was a one act show. Every speech she gave was the exact same as the one she gave at the RNC. This combined with what I felt was intentionally over-doing her small-town credentials to pander to a certain segment of the population was a turn off. I still supported McCain-Palin, but not enthusiastically. I hope if she plans on getting on the stage in 2012, there are some changes that come along with it.
