re: #626 Semper Fi

Good morning Lizard Nation
Surprised to wake and find a most welcome light rain. Think I’ll stay in today.

Lurking before this post and noticed cast iron mentioned a few times. You, and I others. I’m curious. Is it the ‘enameled’ version?
I’ve been thinking of purchasing a couple fry pans.

I suppose the enameled ones are nice to use. I collect Griswold skillets and anything else that has Griswold on it. If you see one at a flea market or antique store make sure it is marked ‘Erie’ and of course has the large Griswold Logo with the trademark cross. The small Griswold logo is still a good pan but not as valuable to collectors as the large one. They both are excellent pans for cooking.
In it’s later years Griswold made enameled pans because housewives prefered the pretty colors but I love my black pans just fine :)) Check for rust, pitting and watch out for cracks. An old pan shouldn’t cost any more than the new ones depending on size. Most people do just fine with a #8 or #10. The larger sizes are more expensive and you may not want to pay the collector price.
Take care of it and it will last you for life. :)
