Huh? any data for that claim? I know it takes about $100 worth of electricity and natural gas to assemble a car or truck. Some more for the parts that go into it. Saying it takes as much energy to build as it will burn it its lifetime is off base by orders of magnitude.

I’ll dig it out over the next day or so. Are you counting the energy cost of mining and refining steel/aluminum/exotics? (It was from a Brit car site, and might be suspect.)
