I’ve heard from friends with text-messaging contacts within the IDF that special forces have been operating inside Gaza since the beginning, scoping out targets for the IAF and helping lay the groundwork in general for the assault.

I’d believe it, although I don’t know how they could move around without Hamas freaking out about it.
