So Snowden is now threatening techno-blackmail? or is that extortion?

I love the “martial law” clause. This paragraph makes him sound like a one-man Anonymous. “I’ll dox you! And then you’ll be sorry!”

I assume Wikileaks publicity stunt. Greenwald and Wikileaks look like they’ve been parceling out whatever they can find for maximum publicity and if there was something really REALLY juicy in there they’d publish it first, not hold off until the Black Helicopters finally came for St Snowden.

I’m also pretty sure that China and Russia have had free access to all this material for months. Even if China and Russia couldn’t break the encryption Snowden said he had on those disks (which I doubt for several reasons), Snowden was in a pretty horrible bargaining position in Hong Kong and had precisely one thing to trade for sanctuary. Any other powers could probably trade for Snowden data from China or Russia, because this sort of shit happens all the time.

Also, it’s fairly clear that Wikileaks and Greenwald consider the US the only power in the world who would possibly assassinate someone for political gain. Obviously, this kind of dead-man’s switch is a total win/win for a rival power; that Wikileaks doesn’t address this (that I see) means that there’s only the US, its dupes, and its victims in the world. Nice.
