Except that Pence doesn’t have the cult following. He’s not going to be spouting the inflammatory rhetoric that excites the base and he is not the “outsider” that Trump pretends to be or the “successful” businessman going against the political establishment. The GOP would get the policies they desire from Pence but they could lose the voters.
