The UK joined the European common market, which was a completely different type of contract to the position where we are in now, where EU politicians have been pushing for ‘ever closer union’ and berating UK politicians for years for not being as enthusiastic for that.

And when the people in the UK were asked, do you actually want to stay in the EU as it has become compared to what it was, the answer is, no, not really.

I would argue most of the people voting had no idea what they were voting for, but only followed whichever propaganda Remain and Leave were dishing out. Since I have not lived in the EU or the UK, my opinion may be total shit, but from my perspective as an outsider, nothing seemed terribly awful about staying in the EU. Nothing was broken, as I said. The Leave campaign, though, made it seem like remaining would be the end of British civilisation as we know it.

If the Leavers somehow expect a return to the Empire of yore, it’s just not going to happen. That ship sailed after 1945.
