RC doctrine has no particular bone to pick with cannibalism. That was emphasised by reaction to the rugby team air crash in the ’70s..

I think the RC view of that incident was that those who were eaten had been killed in the plane crash itself, and there was no malicious intent and while regrettable, necessary for survival.

IMO, that’s an entirely reasonable point of view.
