don’t defend him, that entire social agenda was driven by Democrats, who brokered a deal for those very items for giving Nixon a free hand in foreign policy.

sure he signed them, but the only reason Vietnam lasted as long as it did was that the Dems were true to their word, letting Nixon set that agenda, in return we got more social progress as a country by letting Nixon send a bunch of kids into the meat grinder.

If the Dems fought him on that, we might have seen civil war part 2, because while Nixon wasn’t Goldwater, he wanted to reshape the world more than punish the Dems, but without that carrot… who knows.
