I worked for a McD’s as a teen many many years ago. It paid minimum wage then too. I do not believe they ever intended to have full time workers dependent on their wages to raise families in middle class America. McD’s has almost always been a workers first (not only) foray into the working world. For that I am very grateful, I still have friends from that job-over forty-five years later, tho not my first job it taught me a serious work ethic-but we still had fun, I learned a lot from Ray Kroc’s customer service oriented philosophy and his demands for cleanliness-really! As for today - the times have changed, but I still believe their jobs are not meant for moms and dads, owning homes raising families! I think they are getting somewhat of a bad rap here- they are not holding themselves out as the ideal long term career/job. Sorry - in this instance I think peoples expectations are out of whack.
