Carrying on from the discussion downstairs about PolitiFact, Clinton, etc:

I guess what I find most disheartening is that our culture values a simple explanation (TRUE or FALSE) for every situation, every statement or claim, rather than spending time to come to an understanding of whatever is being discussed, to make a more weighted decision (if, indeed, any decision or conclusion is necessary at all.)

There is an annoying flip side to this as well, where conclusions need to be drawn but aren’t. E.g., the main stream media continues to treat Republicans as if they are a normal political party when all the stories should be about how the GOP is a toxic dumpster fire.
