I got an email from MoveOn, and while I agree with most of it, they’re either trying to pull the wool over people or can’t do percentages properly:
And if you think this upcoming election is in the bag, it’s not. New polling data shows a spike in Republican enthusiasm about the midterm elections, suggesting higher-than-expected Republican turnout. Now, the number of Democrats and Republicans who say the November elections are “very important” is a statistical tie.
That not actually what it means when the percentages are the same, since the number of self-identified Democrats is at 40% of the voting population while it’s at 28% for Republicans.
That’s not to discount that this is going to be a very tight election and we need to harness that anger to get people to vote.
