I’ve been trying to avoid bird netting because I don’t care for the way it looks but I might reconsider.
It works—the garden has its own technical aesthetic. It’s a machine to produce vegetables. Besides the net, I use a ground mat of recycled fabric (when possible the plants are set though slits in it). A permanent water distribution manifold with feeders goes to each of the major plants. Mother Earth News would not approve, but I use no herbicides and almost no pesticide.
