It all seems very typical to me. Hell, I think knowing the shit that my immigrant ancestors went through by nativist jerks is why I am so sympathetic to the plight of modern immigrants. I loved my grandfather but he always rubbed me the wrong way when he would whine about immigrants. I had to remind him that his parents were immigrants themselves and faced hostility.
