re: #5 Bob Levin

There are considerable efforts, efforts pushing world public opinion to the point of reversing the UN’s 1948 declaration of Israel’s existence.

By whom? Unless you’re referring to the usual suspects—in which case it would be nothing new—I find that to be a rather startling claim, Bob. I haven’t seen mention of such a thing anywhere; not here in the Pages, not in the MSM, and not in the English language versions of Israeli media I’ve been following.

Can you please elaborate? Preferably including links so I can try to learn more.

On the other hand, Israel has hired European PR firms to see what they can do to bolster Israel’s image, which is slowly drifting into the stereotypes of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion—you know, blood libels, having horns and tails, working with the devil for world domination. Some people may have run across these recently in their own lives. It’s becoming quite common.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise, should it? The far right is seeing a global resurgence and they’ve linked up with the extreme Christian right. Within that group you’ve got people like Pat Robertson, whose TV shows and books reach hundreds of millions across the globe, basing the “scholarship” of his writings on works by known anti-Semites, at least one of whom actually did cite The Protocols of the Elders of Zion in her work (see this and this if you stopped following the other thread). When someone like him (as well as others) makes a religious minority like Muslims the focus of his hate & fear mongering, then it’s only a matter of time before Jews become the focus (then Catholics, Mormons, atheists, etc.)

Anyway, back to my original question:

Does anyone know which groups, apart from Peace Now, the Israeli government takes issue with?

Do you happen to know?
