This guy’s wrong.
Most people would NOT have done what he did and he IS a hero. I like to think I would have done the right thing and said something to stand up for those engineers. And I love the budding friendship between these two guys too.

Well, he said he was doing what others “should have done” (second to last paragraph) not what they “would have done”

“Hero” is a word Grillot shied away from when recalling his part in the drama. “I was just doing what anyone should have done,” he said.
