One of the many reasons I left the RCC when I was 16. I haven’t been to mass regularly since 2002 (when I was 18) and the last time I went to mass out of curiosity it was 2008 (and the priest at the end of mass read a letter from the bishop stating that if you voted for Obama you were going to hell because of… abortion).
I had to go to 2 masses this year - one for the funeral of my Aunt (January) and then sadly her husband shortly there after (a month ago). Both amazingly great people from small town Kansas (and diehard Ds awash in R country). The mass lingo and phrasing has changed soooo much (and not for the better). It seems they focus more on justification of who is allowed to be saved - rather than being opened armed in welcoming all people.
