Because of course…

America is an impossibly, impenetrably racist nation. It is a white country through and through it seems, and any attempt at inclusion past that will have you buried in the hate of centuries, and the power of hate is infinite. Daring to fight it just swallows you up in more hate and spite because they can keep it up forever, love can’t.

As you can tell, I’ve lost absolute faith in the ‘Love Trumps Hate’ bullshit.

I’m encouraged that there’s a lot of cultural change that I think will be hard to roll back. There are a lot of great comics with minority and women characters, for example, and I can’t see Marvel and DC putting some Nick Spencer type in charge so he can have Captain America kill black people and deport Ms. Marvel. I can’t see sci-fi publishers like Tor putting out books by Vox Day. I can’t imagine it’d be possible to say, “Okay, we’re going to have culture look exactly like it did in 1953.”

On the other hand, I do still think it’s too late to save the country, and we need to be either fleeing or helping vulnerable people escape. So I don’t know what the hell I think, I guess.
