re: #44 Mattand

His current post is from Jonah Goldberg*, who writes for and is editor of the fucking National Review. The other post I read was a steaming pile of crap that pulled the old “MSNBC is as bad as Fox News” garbage.

I’m sure he’s a wonderful person. The choice of posts I’ve read have been eye-rollers, and I don’t think his tenure here should excuse that. If those are just outliers, fine. I’m not impressed.

*Fun fact: Goldberg lied about being twice nominated for the Pulizter. So, yeah, let’s give this guy airtime at LGF.

At first I wasn’t going to reply to your comment. I didn’t want to start a posting war. But, I think I need to explain myself to you. Yes, I do know who Jonah Goldberg is and represents. I sometimes feel the postings on LGF represent somewhat of a lock-step of thoughts and ideas so I post/page articles that may shake up or challenge every-ones thinking. If you paid attention to Goldberg’s article, you should have noticed he gave a very good outline on the issues that should advise Democrats on how to defeat their Republican opponents. Know thy enemy.

I also post/page articles about topics which I feel will be of general interest to all LGF posters and readers. Since I believe I’m now the only member from Alaska, I try to share information on what’s happening up here in the “Last Frontier”. Since I am a retired Forester, I am very interested in environmental issues affecting Alaska and the lower “48”.

I’m sure Cheechako will be crushed to hear that. /

Yes, I’m terribly crushed if Mattand passes by my postings. ///

Earlier this month, I learn the meaning of ‘Cheechako’. Crudely translated, it’s Newbie, in some Alaskan language.

“Cheechako” is a Native Alaskan term for a newcomer to the State. I believe it originated during the original gold rush period. I really don’t know how long one has to live up here to lose the name. I’ve been up here for 17+ years and the local (born in Alaska) types still consider me an outsider.
