We’ve set the charge limit to 90% to maximize battery life and a fill up puts a conservative range of like 285 miles estimated. Git it down to about 150 and it filled back up in 40 minutes at the Supercharger station in Westlake Village. We sat down at a deli and ate some sandwiches while monitoring the charge progress on my iPod Touch.

He’s set up Time of Use (TOU-D) billing with SCE so all power usage between 10pm to 8am is ultra low tier, 8am to 2pm and 8pm to 10pm are low tier, and 2pm to 8pm are peak. His plan in the summer is to avoid paying the peak rate as much as possible by getting the condo nice and cold with AC before 2pm and then coast until 8pm. Towards that goal he’s also going to get a consult on adding more insulation to the attic.

That 40 minute charge time is still a killer for me. But I can see how it’d be useful for local driving.
