The exact opposite is happening; young people are leaving because the economy is knackered.

Yes. I included the chart for Germany above. That should be quite alarming as Germany is driving a lot of the EU economy.

The United Kingdom is going to have a slightly smaller working age population, but it is no where near as bad as the other countries.

Additionally, the UK has a different setup for pension schemes compared to Europe. In the UK money for pensions is saved as people work, and then the pensions are paid out of that pot of money. In most of Europe, pensions are paid directly from tax revenue, and there isn’t any savings to be drawn down.

To be clear, the UK is definitely going to have a tough time outside of Europe, and with a mildly aging population, but it is going to be nowhere near the scale of the problem across the EU.
