That’s the proper nomenclature for this particular outbreak. Me, I’m a bit old school, so I just informally refer to it as “Wuhan Coronavirus”, being as Wuhan is were it originated and it’s a coronavirus disease.
Why would they call it Novel? If SARS-CoV-2 is a (the?) cause of COVID-19 does that mean Novel = Cause? To me, Novel means variant…but it does not seem that is the case.
