Here i go again with my “historical perspectives”. Many people people wonder why so many seemingly intelligent, rational folks in the west supported Hitler and the Nazi Party. What people lose sight of is that the USSR was viewed as being the more reprehensible of the two. British PM Stanley Baldwin even viewed Germany as being the natural bulwark against the spread of god-less Communism.

This is nothing new for Europeans; theirs is a history of balance and counter-balance. Britain’s foreign policy for two centuries has been to align the weaker European powers against the strongest one. The problem now is that no one seems to see how history can repeat itself. Or that they think it won’t.
