Sexual hypocrisy is rampant throughout the political class. Hubris has become teh sine qua non for public office, with very few exceptions. Leaders both spiritual and political, would have us “do as they say, not as they do”. If we disqualified every member of the political class who was guilty of practiced hypocrisy, who would be left to do the filthy job of running government at any level? I would be happy to vote for O’Donnell regardless of her personal sexual preferences and practices; what I would not countenance is her insistence on imposing her personal evangelical morality on me. Even if she were virgo intacta and had never pleasured herself, I would not want her to impose that subjective morality on the electorate. The reality of her private life is of no relevance, other than that it goes to “character” (whatever that means in politics anymore).
