Politics in relation to chess… well cited!

Still, memory doesn’t count with chess pawns, while it does with humans. I’d like a variation of the idea TP discussed:

Pass a short term fix on tings like the ‘Medicare doc fix’ and any matters that need to be done to allow people to file their taxes. That still lets the tax cuts expire. Use Christmas break to hold secret meetings, in which the deal will be hammered out. Then come back in January and pass the deal swiftly. A fast passage would move too fast for either sides grassroots to mount significant opposition. Strident base voters would shriek, but others would be glad the matter was resolved.
