I have to disagree with you there. Wingnuts really took up with the Robertsons after Phil made his comments about gays and blacks and the ensuing controversy. So yeah I think the popularity of the show may play some part in that but don’t kid yourself, they were happy to link themselves with the Robertsons after Phil likened homosexuality to bestiality.
