The White House has lost all credibility.

Here I will interject that the Trump White House didn’t have any respectability to lose.

No one is really suprised at what is happening.

To me the only question is how long will certain Republicans in the House cower in fear? Same for the Senate, but the nomination hearings showed that a lot of Republican Senators at most are putting up a token response - see Rubio on Tillerson.

It is very possible that the Republicans in Congress will never fight back, see it in their best interest to bend over to whatever Trump wants.

I know people are holding out for the “moderate” Republicans in the Senate to take a stand, but that could be folly. None of them will be personally hurt by just remaining quiet. Whether any of them have an actual conscience about civil liberty matters will be proven in these days.

Remember - Nixon was impeached by a Democratic Congress. While some Republicans went along, it is only a matter of speculation whether if the Repubs were in control that it would have gone the same way. To get a same-party impeachment will be very difficult.

The worst part of this is that many of our fellow Americans gladly welcome the new fascism.
