Considering that Europe, and it feels like goddamn near every single country in the world save Canada and Mexico, seems to be falling to right-wing surge after right-wing surge, seemingly unabated…I have precious little hope for the next couple of decades. The unlimited power of hate, spite, and xenophobia seem set to win the day for the rest of my lifetime at this point.

How much of this is Putin’s doing — and how much is unaided nationalist sentiment powered by Twitter and social media?
