Hmm, one more Swedish song. I hope that Teukka will correct me with any mis-statements as I may not have the correct cultural or linguistic context.

But, as I understand it, this song is a cultural memory of the conversion from Paganism to Christianity. The lyrics were reportedly dated to the 1700’s and the memories go back perhaps 500-700 years before that. It talks about that turmoil in one family and it’s tragic results.

This version of Swedish, I am told, is an older form. It is sung by a group from a Swedish speaking part of Finland.
