I’ve about had it with Bernie supporters, BTW. I was reading Rebecca Traister’s twitter thread about the whole Warren/pregnancy/”gosh, it doesn’t SAY ‘fired for being pregnant’ so she must be LYING!!” kerfuffle, and some guy with “Bernie 2020” in his Twitter nic was yattering on about dishonesty and shit.

Seriously? And they think they’re the REAL Progressives? Do they REALLY think that in 1971, the school board would put that in the record? I mean they fired pregnant women because even a MARRIED woman being pregnant was somehow unseemly - presumably because it was a CLEAR INDICATION that she’d had sex. They sure as hell weren’t going to put it in the record.

And that’s another thing. It bothered me in 2016, and it’s bothering me now - a LOT of young people, including young women, so completely take the current situation of increased equality as a given, and have NO FUCKING CLUE what it was like for the women who went before them, what they had to put up with, how limited their choices were, and the unending shit they had to endure.

In the late 60s/early 70s, Mom found out that a male coworker, with fewer responsibilities and less experience than she had was being paid substantially MORE. She asked her boss about it, and he said, as if this justified it, “Well, he’s got a family to support.”

THAT was what it was like.

I could not agree more. If conservatives are guilty of romanticizing the past, I think there’s a lot of younger progressives who take what the older generations fought for and won for granted and that definitely happened and still is. I don’t like when older people crap on younger people but there are some younger people who as you get at have no idea what the past was like and how hard your generation and my grandparents generation fought for changes. I hate BOOMERS RUINED EVERYTHING. And it’s like uh no. Just no.
