You’re right. The cop was ignorant, and that statement is factually incorrect. I wasn’t going to bring it up, though, as the point of the article was to illustrate the terror and fear inflicted with firearms.

The truth is worse than “piercing armor”, though. Open-nosed bullets are meant to expand as they pass through tissue, tearing a bigger hole and inflicting more trauma than a regular solid bullet. A gun is fundamentally just a hole-puncher, and hollow points are an “innovation” designed to make bigger holes.
