Actually, a strong case can be made that opening Cuba to American investment would sweep away the Castro regime and communism in general faster than any other solution. Capitalism is funny that way - it’s extremely contagious. Restore a couple of the pre-revolution oceanfront hotels and casinos, and the Cuban Navy would have to work overtime turning the traffic from Miami away.

I think that argument is a very stale one used almost exclusively by the left - or by investors. Creating some sort of exclusive tourist zone in Cuba helps liberate average Cubans just how? Personally, I don’t think the contagion is apt to spread 3 feet beyond the designated tourist zones. Rationalize normalization if you will, but pumping cash into a tyrannical government is good somehow for America?

Why cannot folks recognize and resist totalitarianism when it is identified?
